Bi-weekly Digest
December 5, 2021
Dear Readers,
Welcome to my new newsletter, which I will send out bi-weekly. My letter will inform you of my writing projects, stories, blog posts, and poetry. You may even find something that inspires you.
Thank you so much for reading!
Project Updates
I am thrilled to announce the arrival of The Embrace of Dawn, edited and directed by Thomas Gaudex and published by Librinova. Along with a collection of over 100 poems, two of my poems: “More Than Survival” and “Snails This Time” now live in print! Here is the description:
A new dawn, a birth, an embrace. One hundred and twenty-four poems written by sixty-two writers from all over the world. Writers who every day make the Scribe publication shine on the publishing platform Medium with their emotional verses. This poetry book is a gift from me to them, and a gift from them to all poetry lovers. As you turn the pages of this collection, you will read poems that will make you smile, laugh, and sometimes cry. But most of all, you will read poetry that will make you love life even more. Because life is always more breathable when it is tinged with poetry.
-Thomas Gaudex, Publishing Director.
To hold the book in your hands, purchase here. Please note that it is published and distributed in France, so it will most likely take two weeks to arrive. You can also purchase the book for Kindle here.
I am really proud of my published writing this year. It isn’t easy to put myself out there, but it really makes me happy to share my words. It is better than them being stuck in my head. I really appreciate all of my readers and writing community!
THIS WEEK’S
FEATURED STORIES
Spotlight on my Tarot Vision Series
I have always loved delving into mystical cards. As a storyteller, I use the Tarot to inspire my poetry. Not only does it give me insight into my own psyche, but it also spurs my creativity. Periodically, I write poetry and stories that have emerged from a reading. Maybe there will be a full collection someday. Here is a featured piece from the series:
The Ride of Wands
“I’m just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood.” — from the voice of Nina Simone
a moment
perhaps a few days around
an American holiday
meant for rest
she sits in the icon
for renunciation
sheds the weight of the satin
skin, with the potency
of feminine power
it slips away
as the chrysalis
never meant
to hold her forever
she rides away
from the courthouse
a witness without testimony
a circular wind
and she’s gone
the stirring of the hurricane
shows herself out
class dismissed
the field is bright
with the firelight celebration — |
a two-night horizon
music and family
loving and knowing
she’s not in a hurry
for it’s nearing the end of
the cosmos and zinnia season
and she stops to watch the wild
then pulls the thorn from
her sole — such is the discovery
of transgression
but her sister
will love this story
awe at the beautiful path
out of the hurt
for it’s the New River
and the Pinnacle
and the worth-it wait
on the ride of wands
there is her love
there is her trust
there is her solid ground
her child runs along
beside her now
so happy to have her home
--Nina Simone has always taken me to the moon.
